Our Purpose
The Annual Supreme Convention is the cornerstone of our Brotherhood’s mission, bringing together our members to celebrate our shared heritage and commitment to philanthropy. This year, we will gather in Chicago to make key decisions for the organization and continue our philanthropic efforts with your donation directly helping the organization host this annual convention. The net proceeds will support the local Foutrides Chapter #8 (60%) and the national Pan Icarian Foundation (40%), both IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations.
Pan Icarian Brotherhood
A group of immigrants from Icaria formed a mutual aid society in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 26, 1903, which was later chartered in 1905 as the Icarian Brotherhood of America. The purpose of this organization was to provide medical, disability, and funeral benefits for its members and provided a means for raising money for charitable contributions for the islands of Icaria and Fourni. Currently, the organization has approximately 2,000 paying members across 27 chapters throughout the U.S. and Canada. We are proud to say that this Brotherhood is the oldest Hellenic organization in the Western Hemisphere and one of the largest.
Pan Icarian Foundation Mission
Over the past three years the Pan Icarian Foundation has given over 1 million dollars through:
- $687,000 awarded across 280 scholarship recipients including Undergraduate, Graduate, Junior/Community College Studies, and Technical or Trade School Studies in the U.S., Canada and Greece
- $65,000 in domestic and foreign medical aid
- $16,000 in foreign crisis relief aid
- $14,000 in cultural enrichment grants to preserve and promote Ikarian and Hellenic traditions
- $240,000 supporting programs and the development of Ikaria
Our Chapter Mission
Our mission is to uplift and empower our community by fostering educational opportunities for our local members, engaging in meaningful Chicago-based community service projects, giving back to the island of Ikaria that we call home, and providing support in times of disaster. Through these pillars, we strive to build a stronger, more resilient community while creating lasting positive impact for generations to come.

- Donated over 100 hygiene bags to Covenant House of Illinois supporting youth homelessness

- Helped maintain a food bank for PAEC Therapeutic High School
Aid to Ikaria
- Donated uniforms to all support hospital medical staff in Ikaria
- Donated 100 fire-resistant pants for firefighters in Ikaria
